Diaspora is the name of a project which aims to succeed where others have failed, it was in fact designed to create a social network is completely open source a reality that can compete with well established and highly trafficked as Facebook.

Up to version 1.5.x Aptana Studio provides complete support for developing Web-based applications make using the PHP language, and now, since it was released the 2.0 release notes Open Source IDE replaced this medium with the Framework PDT.

PDT is not a solution acceptable to all, this is a project still under development and does not allow great freedom in developing PHP applications. Those who want to continue using Aptana with support for PHP, however, may do so by following some simple steps:

  • Download and install the Eclipse Platform Runtime binary;
  • Open Eclipse and go to “Window> Preferences> Install / Update> Available software site”;

GetDeb is a useful and intelligent service that lets you install applications on the latest distribution of Ubuntu Linux with a simple click, choosing from an online catalog of open source programs. This is an unofficial project based on a specially dedicated repository in which there are only the latest versions of applications.

To use GetDeb just install a small application with the local extension. “Deb” which can be downloaded from the official website of the program, otherwise you can proceed with a manual installation by going to:
System>> Administration> Software Sources> Third-Party Software
and add the parameter:

Tiny USB Office is an office suite, just as are MS Office and OpenOffice.org, but unlike the latter and most renowned collections of programs, features occupy very little disk space, all it takes less than 2, 5 Mb and is designed to be used directly from a USB stick.

  • encrypt data and create databases;
  • manage e-mail;
  • create compressed archives;
  • transfer and share files;
  • create PDF documents;
  • erase files;
  • PixaMSN communicate with the client;
  • compile spreadsheets;
  • editing text;
  • launch programs.
