New report on the button + 1 in Google Webmasters Tools

Recently, Google has set up a button for webmasters. This allows Internet users connected with a Google account to indicate that a page is interesting, as the button Like of Facebook.

Google has also integrated this button in its search results which allows users to directly indicate the results which pages are interesting in their social circle.

Google added a section in its webmaster tools; it can track the number of clicks on that famous button. This new feature is timely because it was not possible to have complete statistics on this button.

Indeed, for the moment it was possible to track the number of clicks on this button via Google Analytics. However, there was no data on the number of impressions or clicks on the search results.

Report on the results of Google

A first report, entitled “Impact of the research network” allows us to know what is the impact of a button with visitors. It allows us to know if the click rate is higher when the page is recommended.

In fact, it is now possible to know if users are more likely to visit your page if someone recommended using this button.

The activity report

The activity report can simply find out which pages have generated the most clicks the button on Google. This allows for example to know what content is most appreciated by readers.

The report includes a column that shows the number of clicks from other sites. This includes for example the number of clicks from the Google search results. It is therefore possible to compare the activity of the clicks on the site and from Google results.

The report of the hearing

The last report in this new section of Webmaster Tools provides information of geographical and demographic information on users who have clicked on. Google also provides information on age and gender of users who have voted for you.

Google states, however, display this information only for pages that have received a considerable number of clicks. This restriction protects the privacy of Internet users who clicked on the button.
